Obverse : Crowned effigy of George VI to left in low relief in the center of the legend GEORGE VI KING AND EMPEROR OF INDIA, along periphery.
Reverse : large numeral 50 below which CENTS; Sinhala sather panarhar; and Tamil 50 Satam on consecutive lines with a palm frond on ether side and at bottom CEYLON . A crown above dividing the numerals of year 19 43.

This coin with frozen year 1943 was restruck in 1951, few years after Ceylon independence in 1948. The Mint figures above from Royal Mint Report. The 4.0M mint number in 1951 is from Sallay's unpublished records from the Board meeting minutes of the Central Bank of Ceylon. It is not included in the total of year 1943 of 8,600,004 given by Pridmore(1961), Remick(1968) and Robert Harris(1970).
